Artificial Intelligence Policy

Jurnal Analis Kesehatan recognizes that artificial intelligence (AI) and AI-assisted tools may be used in academic work. Their use must be transparent and responsible and must not replace human scholarly accountability.

7.1. Use of AI by authors

Authors may use AI tools for activities such as language editing, grammar checking, organizing written material, or other permitted technical support.

Authors must:

  • Disclose AI use when AI has contributed to text preparation, image or illustration creation, data collection, analysis, or other substantive aspects of the research.
  • Identify the AI tool and explain its purpose in the Methods section or another appropriate section.
  • Check all AI-generated output, including factual accuracy, references, interpretation, and possible bias.
  • Ensure that all references cited actually exist and support the statements for which they are cited.
  • Protect research data, patient information, and personal data when using AI tools.
  • Accept full responsibility for the submitted and published manuscript.
  • Mechanical language correction may be treated proportionately in accordance with the journal’s instructions. Authors must still comply with any disclosure requirements set by the editor.

7.2. AI cannot be an author

AI tools cannot be listed as authors or corresponding authors because they cannot take responsibility, approve the final version, or be accountable for conflicts of interest and publication integrity. Authorship responsibility rests with eligible human authors.

7.3. Use of AI by reviewers and editors

Reviewers and editors must maintain the confidentiality of unpublished manuscripts. Manuscripts, sensitive data, reviewer reports, and editorial correspondence must not be entered into external AI tools that are not approved or that do not ensure confidentiality.

AI must not replace reviewers' independent scholarly judgment or editorial decision-making. Any use of AI-assisted tools must comply with the journal’s and institution’s information-security policies.

7.4. Breaches of the AI policy

Using AI to fabricate data, generate false references, manipulate images, conceal plagiarism, or present AI-generated output as empirical findings without a valid basis constitutes an ethical violation.

If a breach is identified, the journal may request clarification, conduct additional checks, request revisions, or reject the manuscript. For published articles, a correction or retraction may be considered if the integrity of the article has been affected.
