Abstract

Diabetes melitus (DM) penyakit gangguan metabolisme karbohidrat, lemak dan protein sehingga mengakibakan hiperglikemia kronis. Pendekatan yang digunakan  dalam menangani penyakit kronis yakni Self-Care Deficit Nursing Theory (SCDNT). Metode yang dIgunakan studi kasus dan studi literatur. Hasil Tn.S berusia 57 tahun saat ini dirawat dengan diagnosa medis sepsis  perbaikan et causa selulitis, ulkus diabetes, CAP, AKI ec sepsis dan diabetes melitus tipe 2. Pengkajian dengan pendekatan self care Orem terdapat masalah ketidakadekuatan universal self care requisites, development self care requisites, dan health deviation self care requisites. Masalah keperawatan utama pada kasus yakni resiko perluasan infeksi. Tujuan yang ditetapkan mengacu pada NOC berdasarkan pendekatan Self Care Orem. Intervensi, implementasi dan evaluasi keperawatan mengacu pada nursing system pada pendekatan Self Care Orem.. Kesimpulan pendekatan self care Orem dapat diterapkan pada kasus DM dengan komplikasi yang kompleks. Perawat diharapkan mampu menerapkan pengkajian dengan menggunakan pendekatan teori self care Orem pada kasus DM dengan pendekatan universal self care requisites, development self care requisites, dan health deviation self care requisites serta berdasarkan nursing system dengan memberikan bantuan secara keseluruhan (the whole compensatory system), bantuan sebagian (the partly compensatory system),  bantuan pada pasien dengan tingkat ketergantungan yang rendah (the supportive compensatory system).
